Carry a big pot of generously salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and prepare dinner, stirring often, till al dente in keeping with the bundle directions.

In the meantime, scatter the butter throughout a big warmed platter.

Reserve ¾ cup of the pasta water, then drain the fettuccine and switch to the platter. Sprinkle the cheese over high and drizzle with ¼ cup of the reserved pasta water. (The pasta water helps create a clean sauce.) Utilizing a big spoon and fork, gently toss the noodles, lifting and swirling and including extra pasta water as mandatory. Work in any butter and cheese that swimming pools across the edges of the platter, and proceed mixing till absolutely emulsified and the noodles are coated, about 3 minutes. (For faster preparation, to a big skillet, add the butter and reserved ¾ cup pasta water and produce to a boil. Add the fettuccine, sprinkle with the cheese, and toss with tongs over medium-low warmth till the sauce is creamy and the noodles are coated, about 2 minutes.)
